Privacy policy
Pilot draft, 20 October 2026
Power Architect is a desktop application. Your designs live in project folders on your computer, and the engineering tools run there. This policy says what leaves your computer, where it goes, and how to switch off what is optional. It is provided by [legal entity, address] (“we”).
What stays on your computer
- Your project folders: requirements, documents, calculations, simulations, schematics, boards, firmware, and their git history.
- The conversation with the agents (stored inside each project's .pa folder) and the application's logs.
- Your settings and your sign-in token (%USERPROFILE%\.power-architect\account.json; moving it into the Windows credential store is planned).
What leaves your computer
| What | When | Contains your content? | Can you switch it off? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Model requests: your messages, the files the agents read in that step, their work | Every model call, through our gateway to Anthropic | Yes. This is the only automatic path for content. | No; the agents cannot work without it |
| Usage records: tokens, cost, model, which agent, session and turn ids, app version, timing, outcome | Every model call | No | No; they are how your plan is counted |
| Part searches: the part numbers and search terms | When an agent looks up parts, through our gateway to DigiKey | Search terms only | No |
| Usage events: event names, counts, durations, ids | Every 30 seconds while signed in | No | Yes: Settings → Privacy → Usage events |
| Crash reports: the error and stack trace (secrets and your home folder removed) and recent log lines without their text | After a crash, while signed in | No | Yes: Settings → Privacy → Crash reports |
| Diagnostics bundle | Only when you click Send, after seeing the list of files | Only the conversation, if you tick it | Sent only on request |
| Feedback | Only when you click Send feedback | Your text; a screenshot if you tick it | Sent only on request |
| Update checks and tool downloads | At start and every four hours; tool downloads when you click Install | No | Updates: uninstall only, during the pilot |
Never sent: your sign-in token to anyone but us, provider keys, project files outside model requests, or other projects' sessions.
Your account
We keep your email address, your plan and cap, and the usage records above, so we can sign you in, count your usage, support you and invoice. Sign-in is by an emailed link; we never see a password.
Who processes data for us
| Service | What for | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Anthropic | The AI models | Model requests, under Anthropic's commercial terms, which exclude training on them. [Zero data retention: requested / in place.] |
| Supabase | Sign-in and our database | Email, account and plan, usage records, events, crash reports, diagnostics you send |
| Fly.io | Hosts our gateway | Model requests and part searches pass through; not stored by us beyond the usage records |
| DigiKey | Part data | Part searches |
| Cloudflare | This website and the release downloads | Requests to hwstack.ai and releases.hwstack.ai (IP address, browser), for delivery and security |
| Google Fonts | The website's fonts | Your browser requests the fonts from Google (IP address) |
This website
hwstack.ai sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. If you pick a light or dark theme, the choice is kept in your browser's local storage. The invitation page (/welcome) reads the email from the confirmation link in your browser to show it to you, removes the link's token from the address bar, and sends nothing.
How long we keep data
[Retention: usage records for invoicing (e.g. as long as tax law requires); events, crash reports and diagnostics (e.g. 90 days); account data until the account is closed.]
Your choices and rights
- Switch usage events and crash reports off in Settings → Privacy at any time.
- Sign out in Settings → Account; that revokes the session and deletes the token from your computer.
- Ask us for a copy of your account data, or to correct or delete it: [contact email]. Deleting your account does not touch your project folders.
Changes
We will tell pilot customers by email before a change to this policy takes effect.
